China & Tibet

Check out the photos!
Nov 6th, Evening. Outside, cold, windy raining. Inside, a little Jack Daniels, a few strips of beef jerky, and the warm glow of the CRT. It's hard to believe that I've been back from Tibet for nearly a month now.

The Tibet group has gotten together a couple of times since we've been back, and we all seem to agree, that we just don't know what to tell people about this one. Donna had talked to several of us, and said that it was like each of us was on a different trip. How should I start? Intense imagery of trekking across jagged snow-capped peaks? It wasn't like that at all. A deeply moving, cosmic religious experience? That would be a festooned crock. Fear and loathing in the land of enchantment? An endless blur of Lhasa beer, disco dancing and Chinese hookers? Buddahs, Buddahs, and more Buddahs? Well, that would be a bit closer to the reality! Maybe Tibet is different, a tale with no beginning and no end, like a zen koan, a question that does not expect an answer. Why don't we just start at the beginning, flip through some of the pictures, and let the tale tell itself.....
